Get a Second Opinion
Speak with a cancer expert.
After getting a cancer diagnosis, you'll likely have questions about your treatment options. Our team of cancer experts can provide a second opinion on your recent diagnosis or weigh in on a prescribed treatment plan. Contact any Novant Health Cancer location to request a second opinion.
What to Expect
After being diagnosed with cancer, you may want a second opinion from a trusted source. At Novant Health Cancer Institute, you can meet with our top cancer experts – all in one place, at one time. You’ll have a chance to ask questions and learn more about your condition and concerns.
After you meet with members of the team, the panel will discuss and recommend a plan for your care. If a clinical trial is available that might be right for you, a research coordinator will meet with you to explain your options and answer your questions.
If you have a strong family history of cancer or questions about genetics, cancer genetic counseling may be available. We can help you understand the benefits of genetic testing and when such tests might be appropriate.
Should I get a second opinion?
Getting a second opinion for cancer treatment is something many people do when they receive a diagnosis. Don't worry about offending your physician. Cancer treatment is an important decision, and it is yours to make.
Take time to explore all your options. If you have a rare form of cancer or your treatment involves invasive surgery or aggressive therapies, getting another opinion can give you peace of mind.
