Become a Medical Researcher.
We welcome all areas of expertise in our medical research efforts. The clinical trial investigators at our research medical centers represent the full range of clinical specialties and practice settings, including Novant Health Medical Group physicians and physicians at independent practices.
Novant Health medical research studies include inpatient or outpatient clinical trials for investigational drugs and devices.

Multidisciplinary Research Areas

Novant Health participates in numerous clinical cancer research trials for solid tumor and hematologic conditions. Our specialized early-phase clinical trials help establish drug safety for novel chemotherapies, immunotherapies, and cellular therapies used for treating cancer and other illnesses.

Physicians at Novant Health are dedicated to using research to find solutions to broadly reduce barriers and promote optimal outcomes for historically marginalized populations through a lens of access, value, and equity.

Novant Health Heart and Vascular Institute conducts a variety of trials leading to breakthroughs in vascular, heart failure, structural heart, and arrhythmia care.

We lead clinical research studies of new imaging technology for heart and vascular disease, neurosciences, cancer, and other conditions.

Our neurosciences research started as a response to North Carolina's high rates of stroke and the critical need for stroke clinical trial options in our communities. Our trials' success led to our development of other high-need research, such as in multiple sclerosis and spinal cord stimulation.

Nursing research helps us determine best practices and improve patient care.

Our research seeks to advance orthopedic treatments and improve patient care.

Our pediatric research studies lead to advancements in care for a range of conditions, including cancer, sickle cell disease, hemophilia, and other blood disorders.

Pharmacy research involves assessing innovative pharmacy intervention and patient care strategies to improve clinical outcomes, optimize medication therapy management, and develop best practices.

Our researchers test innovative surgical procedures, like new types of minimally invasive surgeries that shorten recovery time and enhance healing.
Why Conduct Medical Research with Novant Health?
Join a team who's been advancing medicine since 1987.
Conducting medical research exposes you to new perspectives, technologies, and techniques. However, according to current data, most practicing physicians who participate in clinical trials during their career only participate in one study. This is often due to feeling unprepared or under-resourced.
Grow with us.
Rest assured that when you partner with the clinical research team at Novant Health, you will have full access to the comprehensive resources and support you need.
Above all, we work to ensure that our medical researchers feel equipped, trained, and qualified every step of the way. This includes training and guidance on creating budgets, negotiating contracts, and writing protocols.

Committed to Our Teaching Hospitals
Research, clinical care, and a commitment to education are the foundations of an academic medical center.
The Clinical Research team exemplifies these through the research education and support we provide to Novant Health's residency programs. To help equip students with the research skills they need, we provide opportunities to engage in studies as well as access to study coordinator, medical librarian, and statistician support.
We also host a dedicated research day for each residency program to share and celebrate students' and faculty's research findings.

Together, we can make history.
Has clinical research made an impact on your life? Interested in giving back or helping make cures possible? Your generosity makes a difference.
