Our ambulance service is staffed 24/7 by a team of registered nurses and is equipped with advanced technology, medication, and resources to provide critical care during transport.

Dedicated 24-7 Neonatal Transport

Novant Health offers neonatal critical care transport by teams with extensive experience in safely moving and caring for critically ill and premature newborns. We have dedicated vehicles equipped to provide the intensive care needed when transporting premature babies requiring neonatal critical care. Newborns will be transported in the care of Novant Health hospital neonatal staff.

Critical Care Transport Areas

Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center and Novant Health Hemby Children's Hospital

Based at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, our critical care transport fleet is available to transport patients within 150 miles to or between Novant Health medical facilities. Our vehicles are fully equipped to provide vital critical care during transit for adult, neonatal, and pediatric patients, including transport to Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital. Our fleet includes a specially equipped vehicle for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) babies needing intensive care during transport between hospitals.

Novant Health VitaLink has a fleet of 30 ambulances to transport patients within 150 miles of Novant Health New Hanover Medical Center. Our vehicles and teams provide multiple transport options including ground critical care, advanced life support, basic/intermediate life support, and neonatal care transport.  

We provide critical care transport in New Hanover, Brunswick, Pender, Sampson, Clinton, Bladen, Robeson, Onslow, Carteret, Duplin, Jones, and Lenoir Counties. Our VitaLInk non-emergency transport team provides ground transport services in New Hanover, Pender, Brunswick, and Rowan counties.

Critical care ground transport vehicles are available 24/7 from Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. In addition to providing intensive care transport from scene-to-hospital or between medical centers, we also offer basic/intermediate life support care transport, taking patients to skilled nursing homes and to/from hospitals or doctor visits. Covering 150 miles from Forsyth Medical Center, our vehicles are equipped to transfer adults as well as newborns requiring NICU care. Novant Health NICU nurses accompany the newborn in a specially equipped vehicle during NICU transfers.
