As a Novant Health team member, you have two options for getting prescriptions filled, depending on the type of medication you need and where you work.

Novant Health Specialty Pharmacy

To offer convenience and lower prices, team members and their dependents with health insurance from Novant Health who have a specialty prescription are encouraged to fill through Novant Health Specialty Pharmacy. Specialty medications are often more expensive requiring special handling, storage or methods of administration.

At Novant Health, our specialty pharmacy team works directly with your doctor to ensure your medications are carefully monitored. Pharmacists are also available to provide counseling, assistance and support for you, either in person or by phone. Other benefits of using our specialty pharmacies include:

Novant Health Team Member Pharmacy – Coastal Region

The Novant Health Team Member Pharmacy, located in Wilmington, makes prescriptions affordable, convenient, and simple for all Novant Health team members and their dependents. Mail service is available to team members and dependents with mailing addresses within both North and South Carolina. As a Tier-1 Pharmacy, team members and dependents will always have the lowest copay at this location.

Transferring prescriptions from another pharmacy is easy! Our team of knowledgeable and friendly staff will guide you through the easy process. We will transfer your prescriptions from your current pharmacy or call your physician to obtain new prescriptions if necessary. Walgreens

All Novant Health team members may have prescriptions for non-specialty medications filled at any Walgreens location and receive Tier 1 copayment pricing. This means you will have a lower copayment for routine prescriptions ordered from Walgreens.

The drug formulary is a list of generic and brand name drugs that are preferred by your health plan. Click the patient portal link below and search for the drug name. Find its classification (generic, preferred brand, non-preferred brand, or specialty). Prescription Transfers

Transfer Prescriptions to a Novant Health Specialty Pharmacy

As a new patient, you may ask your doctor to send your prescription to a Novant Health Specialty Pharmacy location, or feel free to drop by any of our pharmacy locations with your prescription. Payroll Deduction

We offer the convenience of payroll deduction for Novant Health team members and their spouses and dependents.

Eligibility

To be eligible for payroll deduction of prescription drug co-payments you must be actively working (or on a paid leave of absence)

You are not eligible for payroll deduction of prescription drug co-payments if you are:

No longer employed by Novant Health
On an unpaid leave of absence
Continuing your medical coverage through COBRA
A contract employee through a third-party

Since co-payments will not be spread out over several pay periods, the entire amount of your co-payment will be deducted from your next paycheck. If you do not have sufficient funds in your paycheck to cover pharmacy charges, you'll be required to pay the balance by cash, check, or charge (no FSA cards).

Novant Specialty Pharmacy

To enroll in payroll deduction with a Novant Health Specialty Pharmacy, please have your corporate ID number and insurance card ready.

When you use one of our pharmacies for the first time, a member of our customer service team will ask how you’d like to pay. At this time, you can enroll in payroll deduction for your medication.

If you are transferring a prescription from another specialty pharmacy, you may enroll in payroll deduction upon transfer.
