Dr. Garner is the best!

I came to Dr. Garner because I was unhappy with my prior PCP. I wanted a PCP who would listen to my questions, answer them and more importantly provide me with ideas and suggestions to keep my health in excellent shape as possible. Dr. Garner was found to be an excellent listener and I felt like he took a genuine interest in me and my care. He asked questions, we shared information about my health and his care, and I was pleased that he suggested that I consider having a CT Cardiac Calcium Score done in February since my father had bypass surgery at age 55. My prior PCP never suggested anything like that. I was pleased that Dr. Garner has taken such an interest in my health and care. That's what I was looking for in my new PCP.

Dr Garner listens to my questions and comments and lets me make decisions about my health care. He quickly makes comments about my Lab results on My Chart site. He also immediately processes my prescription refills.

Dr. Garner was very helpful. The check-in staff was not, initially. There is much confusion about my need to see different doctors within my network for different, specialized care - or previous care provided by one doctor or the other. I was nearly refused care in spite of the fact I made an appointment with a doctor who had helped care for me previously with regard to this particular issue. That is why I went to him - because he had an open appointment at a critical time when I needed it and he was familiar with my past same issues. How can I be nearly refused care from a doctor I made an appointment with, and did so because he had cared for me in the past for the same issue? The staff made it sound like I can't see him if I've seen another doctor(s) for any other reason???? Ridiculous. In summary, Dr. Garner was fine. The staff was probably just doing their jobs .... but the reasoning is confounding.
